I don’t know about you, but I relish the music produced by the great rock bands of the ’60s and ’70s. So when I hear another of the great musicians from my “youth” dies, it clouds the day.
Such it is with the passing of Billy Powell–the keyboardist who helped make Lynyrd Skynyrd’s music so cool. He died of a heart-attack today.
So if you get an opportunity over the next couple days, slide in your Lynyrd Skynyrd CD with “Truck Driving Man” and crank up the volume as a tribute to one rockin’ band. There’s nothing like rollin’ down the road with the sounds from a good ol’ Southern Rock Band blasting from the speakers.
